Industrial Theatre & Production

Theatre has long been used not only as a medium for entertainment but as a communication tool within organisations who are seeking to bring about change, learning, awareness and dialogue amongst employees. At Indigo View we know that unless something matters it will have little to no effect. Our theatre programmes and performances are designed specifically for the needs of individual clients seeking to bring about awareness and change within their organisation. Although broadly referred to as Industrial Theatre, there are several models that can be used. These are:

INDUSTRIAL THEATRE

Used for: Launches, events, workshops, as a means of disseminating information
(e.g. customer service, new policies, safety,etc.).

Format: A cost effective way of communicating changes and strategies to audiences; a
straightforward piece of theatre that uses high energy, humour, identifiable characters
and key messages.

CORPORATE VIDEO

Used for: Bespoke, depending on the desired outcomes of the client.

Format: Broadly each process is divided into two parts: pre-production and
post-production. The pre-production includes the writing, analysis and information
gathering required to produce the DVD, as well as the casting and directing of actors
and shooting of the video. Post-production includes the editing, formatting and copying.

DRAMATIC COMMUNICATION SUPPORT

Used for: Primarily used as a means of reinforcing the already existing message(s)
and ideas of the company with an emphasis on the visual and kinaesthetic.

Format: Mime, physical theatre, masks, vaudevillian characters, stock characters,
mime, puppetry, etc. This model is extremely creative and can be designed around any
event, launch or workshop, either as a key entertainment element or as a support to
an already structured event.

PARTICIPATIVE THEATRE

Used for: Building awareness and change in the lives of the audience members in a
very experiential and personalised manner. The spectators become the performers.
New skills are taught, experienced and understood by the participants.

Format: This is an extremely well structured and facilitated model. The aim of such a
model is to create first-hand experience for the audience members who are guided and
directed into playing characters.

FACILITATED THEATRE

Used for: Major changes within organisations, leadership development with an
emphasis on interaction between audience and performers/facilitators.

Format: Typically there are several scenes, each with a key message. Facilitation
between audience and facilitator takes place between the scenes where audiences
are encouraged to give feedback, identify problem areas and solutions (as performed
by the actors) and take key learning areas away with them.
