Romeo and Juliet

Dainfern College’s major production in 2011, directed by Steven Feinstein. The production was
brought together in just seven weeks. The cast experienced an intensive acting workshop process
accompanied by ‘how to speak Shakespeare’ classes. The production was sold out for every performance
and caused an interesting reaction amongst audiences who saw a white Romeo opposite a black
Juliet; the themes of the play are as relevant now in this country as they ever have been. To bring
this awareness and responsibility to a new generation proved both challenging and thrilling.
It was produced by Ilse Hansen (the dramatic arts teacher) with set construction by Rob Joseph.
